Personality Type: ENTP
Age: early 20’s
Ethnicity: Irish (Northern)
Position: Publicity / Marketing
Background: Liam seemed crestfallen to be surrounded by violence. On his 3rd birthday his older brother was seriously injured while at a civil rights demonstration where 13 people were killed. It seems that event, thereafter called Bloody Sunday, would dictate the rest of his childhood.
At that point Liam’s family, who was Catholic, lived with their Protestant neighbors without much issue, but now there were roaming gangs forcing Catholics to move into even more isolated desolate neighborhoods. They were prevented from gaining access to certain employment opportunities. Housing, and police mistreatment was an ever-present issue.
In 1980 the family moved to Divis Flats in West Belfast, and that is where he became aware of how tied into the resistance his family really was. In fact, his family was made up of Catholics and protestants, but they were all staunch republicans.
Liam however, always seemed a world away. He was more likely to be found in his bedroom playing guitar or underground rock LP’s than out of the street trying to amass guns and finding ways to help fund the revolution. The Harp Bar and Good Vibrations were more of an inspiration for him. By the mid-80’s, the family had lost several members, either to violence or internment, and he was compelled to join his family in this fight. However, after his best friend was ‘disappeared’ because of a false accusation of working with the RUC while in active service, Liam decides to move to Franklin City and start a different kind of life.
