Asa Jordan

Leading Role

Personality Type: ESTJ

Age: early 20’s

Ethnicity: African American

Position: Promotions & Artist Development

Background:  Asa’s father was a struggling jazz musician often travelling for months at a time.  Her family moved around often in Northeast Franklin when Asa was little.  Asa’s older brother and Jonas became friends in high school.

Asa lived in magazines growing up.  Jet, People, Cosmopolitan, Rolling Stone, Vogue, whichever was featuring the biggest celebrities of the day.  She inhaled the lifestyles of the rich and famous, not only her more native urban black culture, but the entirety of pop culture.

And she began to live it however she could.  Although an awkward skinny girl in HS, she was always voted best dressed, and had a knack of sniffing out black bag and off-market sales where she could grab brand name clothes at a heavy discount.  In high school she even was allowed to give fashion & shopping tips once a month during the morning announcements.  Several teachers utilized these tips, especially Ms Johnson the history teacher, she swore by Asa’s fashion tips and credited her for landing her fiancé.

Although her father was a well known musician, albeit not a very wealthy one, Asa was just not into the jazz scene.  You can’t dance to it, the people were stuffy, the songs were too long and difficult to follow.  Besides the only jazz musician she ever saw in one of her magazines was Miles Davis and it was an obituary.

One day Ms Johnson saw Asa intently listening to a Walkman, asked what song she was listening to.  Ms. Johnson had no idea she loved New Edition before this and made a suggestion that perhaps she could play music along with her monthly fashion tips show.  Her music selections became even more popular than the fashion tips and once she learned she could parlay that into being a party DJ, her destiny became clear.
